Randy's Varmint Control

About Us

Randy's Varmint Control was established in 2001 in Vacaville, California to help home and building owners control wildlife problems on their property. The firm serves Solano County, Napa County, Sonoma County, Marin County, Yolo County, and Sacramento County.

The work comes naturally to founder Randy Kocher, who grew up in a rural environment that offered plenty of opportunities to observe and interact with wildlife. He later spent 22 years working in the construction industry, which gave him expert knowledge about how to locate and repair gaps and cracks that offer entry to unwanted animals.

As a child, Randy could always be found out in the creek or deep in the woods. He taught himself to track and catch animals by watching their behavior closely. Randy caught everything that lived in the wild - fish, turtles, frogs, snakes, birds, squirrels, rabbits, and numerous other critters. He hasn't changed much since the years his parents struggled to get him to come indoors. Randy still loves being outside, and still loves working with animals.

During his time in the construction industry, Randy built both commercial and residential properties. This knowledge and experience means that he knows what to do when a customer has birds or animals inside their building. He determines how the building was framed, checks behind sheet rock and siding, and finds the point of entry. He traps and removes the unwanted visitors, and finally, he repairs the problem to close off future access.

When he started Randy's Varmint Control, he made a career out of the two activities he most enjoyed - working with animals and building things. This skill set made it possible for him to bring a uniquely humane approach to what many think of as “pest control.” He had no idea if this idea for a new business would work or not, so he continued building custom homes until the varmint control business grew to become a full-time endeavor. At that point, he jumped in feet-first, and gave it his all, providing rare expertise in the Greater Bay Area, and solving problems that few others would even attempt.
